this word is in my regular dictionary, right between 'straked' & 'stramazon'
its entry sez: chiefly Scot & they quote J.D. Scott: "a terrible stramash to make about a wee lapse"
i think in earlier times, this word may have seen heavy use in America, even tho it could be considered, the word still conveys its meaning just thru the way it sounds.
"stramash" = noise, rumpus
